Hi all, apologies if there is up to date info somewhere on the forum, but I’ve looked and have only found older information and dead links.

I have a set of monoblocs for a basket case Atlas I’m working on (64 motor, 66 frame) and am wanting to have the carb bodies resleeved. I’m in Canada so I reached out to Bruce Chessell but he said he’s not doing them anymore. Does anybody have contact info for a shop that will do a good job? Is Lund still doing them out west?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that Chessell has bowed out. He did mine.

One by one, our supporters are leaving us ....... hopefully new, younger blood will fill their shoes.

And hopefully, someone will chime in give and give us a lead ......

Hi All, reviving my own dead thread here. I'm still working on finding someone to do this in North America. I've sent a couple of messages through https://amalsleeve.com/ with no answer. Has anyone had any work done there recently?

I am waiting for a reply from them too. Their website was updated in 2024, but a disconnected phone line is no good sign. If they have ceased business, why not to take down the website also?

I have a pair of un used monoblocs that I was going to put on an Atlas but fitted a Mikuni instead. They are jetted for an Atlas. If you are interested I'm selling.

I would offer, that the availability of brand new Amals negated the need for the cottage industry.

A very fair point and I think you're right. I'm sure demand has dropped quite a bit. Its a shame though, as I have two otherwise perfectly good sets of carbs, they just need a refresh. I admit I don't have a quote on a sleeve job, but I imagine it would be a bit more manageable than the very dear £492.06 Amal has listed on their site for a pair. Also, one of the sets I'd like to revive is a 389 - 689 pair, and I haven't been able to find new 689s anywhere, so refurbishment is the only option as far as I know. I also have a pair of concentrics on a 73 commando that are original and otherwise quite serviceable, and I'd prefer to keep them but have them refreshed. Alas. It does seem the service is still available in the UK, I was just hoping to keep them on my own continent with the hope of keeping shipping costs lower.

Extract from Brit Biker Forum:

"Andy Hardan runs/owns/ took over ... Lund-machine service years ago , and operated out of Seattle ( Snohomish )
... still offering resleeving service , but now out of Texas .
He is now located in Springtown Texas USA and better than ever. Phone Andy at 206 799 1240. He is retired and still does mono blocks and concentrics. I have had him do over a dozen carbs in the last 20 years. Top notch service. Quick turn around too."
