I have a racing Model 50 that I'm resurrecting, last raced in '88. I'm not familiar with these engines as basically I got cases, barrel and head. Modified the inlet port and made everything from complete crank apart from the cam gears and half time pinion including machining a piston from a Cosworth forged blank. Anyway, the question -
The oil pump worm has three holes for removal whereas when looking at worms for sale I can only find ones with a moulded in hex nut. What model has the type with the 3 holes?

If anyone is interested I plan to do UK hill climbs next year along with some parades at various track. In the mean time I plan to build a 500 motor and race it the following year. The current motor has a squish band piston following the hemi head contour. Unfortunately the spare blank I had got damaged at some point and finding pistons that have enough height for contouring to the head will be a problem so I intend to machine some new pistons from solid. I may be that a Manx piston will be close enough to allow light machining to obtain the squish band. Does anyone have a used modern Manx piston that I can chop in half to measure thicknesses?
I'm aware of people using 350 heads and creating a 'bathtub' combustion chamber but feel this is a compromise although I'll be doing lots of research and talking to people that know far more than me.
If I go the route of making pistons from solid I will be open to making more for others racing or wanting sporting performance.

What bore x stroke do yo intend to use for the 500cc engine?

Sorry for slow reply.
Not decided yet. First plan is to get the 350 running. Building a 500 I want a squish band, and it would be nice if I could find pistons 'off the shelf' and just machine the top although this may be wishful thinking - machining from blank forgings in the 80's was time consuming although if it gives me the best bore / stroke and squish I would rather not compromise.
For hill climbing a long stroke might be good although if I get a 500 going well a square motor might be best for tracks with a decent rider.
Looking at your developments, would it be ok to email you in the new year and pick your brains?
