As usuall I forgot to take detailed pictures when I ripped everything apart. I need to know what wires go where on the MKIII solenoid. Bike is switched or rather being switched over to negative ground.

I can't reacll which side hot and neg go onto. There is 4 posts total.....2 big and 2 small. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't find the info in my manual and I'd like to get these wires conencted tonight if possible.

Thanks!

I don't think reversing the polarity will affect the operation of the solenoid?

So,for the standard Prestolite solenoid fitted in the normal position, the left-most threaded post (as you sit on the bike, and the one shown at the bottom of the photo) has the heavy starter motor wire connected to it, and right-most post heavy wire connects to the battery (positive terminal for negative ground).

The White/Red wire (from the starter button) goes to the left side spade tag marked "S".

The White/Purple (ballast resistor bypass wire) connects to the "I" spade, but ONLY if you have the original points ignition, do not connect that wire if any type of electronic ignition is fitted.
