Hello,
Does anyone have the correct front and rear wheel offset dimensions for a Mk3?
The manual has the rear wheel dimensions, but not the front wheel.

Thank you,
Regards Graeme.

I don't recall ever seeing that information in the MkIII factory manual? Could you say which version 'manual' (and relevant section) you found that information in, please?

The front wheel rim needs to be set in the centre of the forks (and thus on the centre line of the frame) so careful measurement (with the hub/wheel fitted to the forks) should give you the amount of offset required?

l..A.B you are correct, my manual doesn't give the rear wheel offset or the front offset. The front wheel information I did look for, but not the rear wheel info.
To inform you why I ask,
The Mk3 I bought had 18" Akront rims and the spokes were not done very well, some were actually bent to reach the hub. So I had them relaced with stainless spokes and the rims and hubs polished by Ash from Ash's Spoked Wheels in Brisbane.
When I fitted the wheels the rear looked good, but the front was not centre in the forks. There was a 5mm difference in the space between the rim edge and the fork on the respective sides.
The wheels did line up fairly straight though using a string line.
I rang Ash who said the manual he had showed the offset for the rear wheel but not the front, I mistakenly assumed my manual also had the rear wheel offset dimensions. I didn't look.
Ash was kind enough to drive 1/2 an hour to come and have a look and measure the front wheel problem, take the wheel back to his workshop and adjust the offset then return it next Monday. All without charge, this includes removing and refitting the tyre. Then refit the wheel and check the alignment with the rear.
I must say this kind of service and back up is rare these days. Especially as I had offered to load the bike into my van and take it to him.
I would still like to know what the recommended offset should be so I can give it to Ash for his next Mk3 customer. I've had Borrani rims done by Ash previously and he does a first class job.

Ash's Sopked Wheels, highly recomended, Brisbane Australia.

I doubt that kind of information was ever 'officially' published by the factory, as I'm sre that like most other manufacturers, they would have considered wheel building to be beyond the scope of the average owner or dealer?

As Ash the wheelbuilder knows how much he needs to correct the rim by, then logically he should be able to work out the correct front wheel offset?

Doing a rough measurement of my own MkIII's front wheel in position gives a measurement of approximately 2-1/2" (or maybe just a touch less?) from the outside face of the disc, to the centre of the rim, with the rim apparently centrally placed (give or take 1/16" or so?) between the fork leg centres.
