Can any body tell me if there is any difference in mk3 clamps and std 850 ones. I know they have the two mount holes on the front but do the tubes mount up the same and is there any difference due to the fact that the clocks don't mount on top of the tubes or are the top nuts different.

Splatt,
MK3 clamps fit Mk2 fine. I have a 73 850Mk2 Interstate here with exactly that. The fork tubes and clocks install perfectly.

Thanks Mick, after falling off some things not right with mine, handle bars and front axle dont line up, may have been out all along.

Mk3 triple clamps are de-raked 1.5 degree in comparison to standard 850 clamps also. Jim

Does that put it back to even less rake than a 750 set?or am I getting all confussed between rake and trail, there was a lenghty debate a few months ago on this and I don't want to start another, if they are deraked by 1.5* what will it do to the trail?,Micks running his like that any one else?

Pulling the fork tubes back in comparison to the steering stem will increase the trail. It will make the bike require more effort to "turn in". It will also make the bike more stable in most cases. Personally I like the MK3 triple clamps but not everyone agrees with me. Along with the Mk3 clamps I also like to raise the rear of the bike an inch which quickens the steering a bit. Jim
