I'm having trouble removing one of the rocker spindles on my 1975 Mk111. It appears a previous attempt at removing it probably caused damage to the threads.

Does anyone have any idea what the correct thread is on this part? Or indeed does anyone have any experience of attempting to remove the part from the head giver the extractor tool won't tighten into the threads.

I looked it up 5/16 cycle. You could try and run a tap to clean the threads and see how that goes about getting a grip and make sure you get a fair bit of heat. I don't think it should cause to much aggro if you get a good grip. Or an easy out. Best of good luck.

I had a spindle I used a screwdriver in the groove to spin out. Lots of twisting & pulling I was going to replace it anyway. Jamming an old bolt in the hole too would work for more grip.

good work Captain !!

When I used my spindle extractor tool with slide hammer no heat needed. They come out real easy.
