Have the power unit out to replace original rear isolastic to the Mk3 type and decided to place pieces of the new parts to check clearances. This is what I encountered where the set screw collar that I believe is suppose to be on the right side does not rest against the tab. This is a 1972 frame. If I take the collar and place on a 1974 Mk2 frame that I have, no problem.
Here is a comparasion from the adjustable to the original collar.
My arrangement. As you look at the picture of the loose isolastics, right side would be the right side of frame.
Any ideas or suggestions? Or is this incorrect? Missing something perhaps or won't work? My original iso rubbers are still good, one ptf washer was shot and other side had a piece of plactic made and was shoved in. Just to test, I assembled the original buffers with new ptf washers & one .020 in. spacer back in the cradle tube and getting about a .006 gap on one side when compressing both collars. Also it's centered. It seems with the Mk3 adjustable when I line the assembly up to the cradle tube it doesn't appear centered. Thank you for your replies. Jerry
