In a recently active thread, LAB pointed out that the parts book drawing has an error on the rear wheel assembly. I want to make sure I have it right so I can correct it.

Here's what I see:
Part 28 is a hex nut shown on the right hand side. It actually goes on the left hand side, as the fixed hex is on the right side. Right?
Part 27 is a washer (2 required in the parts list) but only one is shown, under the mis-shown part 28. Where does the other one go?

I remember having to fiddle the last time I put my wheel on, but I can't remember the details at my age. I'd like to correct the drawing so it will be simple next time.
Thanks,
Jaydee

Correct.

The workshop manual drawing, Section H, Fig.H3(a), below, is more accurate (allowing for the fact that the swingarm, chain adjusters Edit: and caliper plate are not shown).

As it can be seen on the manual drawing, one '27' washer goes under the head of the axle (circled in blue).
The axle is drawn correctly with the hexagon (circled in green).
The oil (grease) seal '25', dummy axle nut '28' and other '27' washer are shown (circled in red) in their correct locations.

One of the areas I need to deal with is front & rear wheel spindle replacement + all associated spacers washers seals etc.. as I don't have any of these
I have a 72 mk4 Roadster are all of the parts available?? if so part numbers and where from would be a great help.
Thanks

Here is the Andover Norton page for the 72 rear wheel, exploded diagram and then pics of the actual parts below.

If you click 'Back to drawings on the top left then you can select the front wheel drawing for the same detail and pics, all the other parts book drawings are there too. Great resource.
