Ok, eBay now appears full of Chinese knock off SH75s !

Any recommendations on a reputable source in U.K. / EU?

The SH847 is much bigger than the 775 which is bigger than a 3 phase Podtronics. I mounted my 775 between the left sidecover and the rear shock. I made a new extended rear footpeg/muffler mount bracket.

The first one I got was bought when I was working in the US. I got it from Jack at https://www.roadstercycle.com.

Since then, I have gone to https://mtp-racing24.com they seem to be sent from Germany or the Netherlands - I have fitted a few to non-norton bikes too.
Sometime the SH775 is listed on their website, othertimes it isn’t.
But they can get them in seemingly without the supply issues of a couple of years ago.

You can also get them from Polaris and Yamaha dealers, but I have found them to be more expensive so far.

Anything cheaper than £100 is probably a counterfeit unit.

Which is worse the knock off at £15 or the one at £115, the clue to the good ones is the back has a metal sheet, any listing regardless of price that does not show the back or where the back shows epoxy is a knockoff.

FWIW, the OEM Lucas rectifier/Zener produced a slightly higher charging voltage when I did my "test" than did the Podtronics.

Gtiller - As far as all the "bad" things mentioned about Li batts, I can only point to my personal experience (with only one such battery I readily admit that's not much of a "sample!). But the Shorai has lasted far longer than any other motorcycle battery I have ever owned on any motorcycle. Despite the charging system not being correct for the battery, it has worked fine. I will buy another one when this one finally dies. I am in a moto club in Mexico and most of the riders in the club either have switched to a Shorai or plan to switch to one when they need a new batt.

I am not disputing your knowledge or experience with LI batteries, just saying that the Shorai has worked fine on my E-start Norton for 7+ years.

Here is some light reading kids. AGM for all my powersport applications. If I were RACING, had a sponsor, 4 lbs. would be worthy of discussion.

here is more pictorial info that might be on subject.

I sourced my 775 from Polaris and my 847 from Suzuki. In hindsight I would order from Jack at Roadster. He sells complete kits and you are guaranteed the real deal. Last time I talked to Jack he said he was only carrying the 800 series but could order the 700 series. Price was almost the same.

Size difference between the two. I had to alter the fins slightly on the 847 to fit under the side cover.

It appears to me that the largest Shorai Li battery that will fit the original Norton Mk3 location is a Shorai LFX21A6-BS12.
I certainly appreciate all the regulator education from gtiller.
Should a Shorai LFX21A6-BS12, in a stock Norton Mk3, be fitted with a SH775, or an FHO20AA regulator?

Even with that regulator I don't think you will have 13.1 volts at idle as Shorai recommends.
I realize that some owners have ignored that recommendation and still had success with the battery, but that might be their usage type. If you never ride in cities then you can keep the Revs up and never test the storage capacity of the battery as you do in traffic.

I melted my setup in Sacramento CA, 1500 kms from home!

So heated gear and Clearwater Dixi are out of the picture in city traffic?

I don't think anyone is saying that an SH775 is suitable, or better or worse for a lithium blah blah battery.

My Commando - Alton 150W single phase alternator with either the Lucas rectifier/Zener or Podtronics and Trispark ignition will produce 13.1+ at idle with the headlight OFF. Headlight on, it will not - takes 2k rpm to do that with the headlight on. It was essentially the same prior to the Alton with the Lucas 180w 3-phase alternator.

The stock RM 23 single phase doesn't seem to put out 13.1 at idle with headlight off and EI ignition.
The voltage monitor flashes slowly which indicates right around 12.25 volts.

Yeah, my old 71 Commando was discharging most of the time at idle. I installed the RM24 in that bike which eliminated that. So I'd say that if you had a stock commando charging system, a "must change" item is to install the Lucas RM24 kit which will produce the voltage at idle with a Trispark, though NOT with the OEM ignition. Whether other E-ignitions require more or less current than a TS, I don't know.
