MK2 owners

The closer the manufacturing year is to 2016 , the more of the refinements it has . So your 2015 has most of the updates . You probably still have the SC ecu and not the newer OMEX . Either way , you still have a good machine so enjoy ! Mine is a 2014 delivered in Dec 2014 , built Nov 17th , 2014 with SC ecu .

Oh yeah. I love riding it and it's an awesome looking bike. I just want to get everything running as it should. I'm sure it will all come right in the end :D

Mine was built in mid-December 2015. I have the SC ECU and after the re-map for Motad exhaust it runs flawlessly. :) Mine also came with a small bottle mounted to the frame for catching the oil from the air box. I saw the same set up on Richard Pearse's 2016 Mark II.

It hunts between tick over and 2500rpm and is reluctant to rev above 4000rpm, they think it is either the ecu or a sensor.

Hi. I bought my MK11 in march this year. Have done just over 3000 miles and had the hunt problem between just over tickover to 2000rpm. I ran the bike to 2000 miles to se if it would rectify itself whilst all along keeping the factory in the loop. With the problem still evident the factory insisted I return it whereby they remapped it for me. It took a few weeks as the ECU people were involved, but the bike is perfect now. Even seems to run quieter.
I have loved the 961 since the outset and waited until the Mk11 appeared before buying one. I don't regret a second or a penny spent. I have other bikes but the 961 has that something extra. It turns every head and makes me smile.

Do I have this backwards, I thought Omex was the original ECU???

Yes, I was under the same impression that OMEX was the original vendor.

Gudday All,
I bought a 2015 plated sport new in November, love the bike. used to a few gremlins (had a hesketh for 10 years).
Recently put some custom made reverse cones and mid section on it runs pretty good with the Norton open pipe map.(thinking about trying Domi map)

Have had usual starter gasket leak so made up a gearbox breather (instant fix)
Learned the hard way about airbox drain being too close to exhaust (was talking to a triumph owner when I disappeared in a cloud of blue oil smoke whilst idling at traffic lights....he laughed and I thought I had killed my bike)

Would love to here from some Aussie riders ( I am based on Sunshine Coast)
Regards
Steve

Hello , BritTwit , Britfan and BPHorseguy , The original 961 in 2010 to 2012 had the older original OMEX , Then Norton switched to SC in 2013-2015 , This is the ecu most of us have now . Then in 2016 Norton now have a NEW OMEX ecu . It is not the same OMEX unit as in 2010-2012. But the great news is that you can upgrade to the NEW OMEX if necessary !

Tony,

Is the upgrade a straight swap out, or will it require rewiring or adapter connectors for older 2013 bike?
Does it use the same EFI maps as the SC unit, or does the swap require different maps?
How much is the new OMEX unit, and what is the benefit of switching?

Hello BriTwit , iwilsom is the only such upgrade I am aware of. iwilson needed a adapter cable to fit it. It makes sense though , and it is the way forward I think . The downloads are different for the NEW OMEX it appears and that make sense.

Fetched my Mk 2 back from factory yesterday, they have not completely cured the hunting problem but it is much better than it was, if you have the short sports pipes fitted like I have then apparently there will be a further update to the ecu in the next few weeks. While it was there they serviced it and fitted new breather system. Rode it the 50 miles home yesterday and no oil on the air box collector bottle overnight. Its a sunny day in UK so hopefully waste some petrol today.
Cheers Keith
