MK111 crankseal circlip

How to get it out ? There are no holed ends to grab and compress with circlip pliers and picks and fine tools just cause it to spin in slot. Thanks.

I usually use a razor blade from the edge near one end to get under it. Once you pick it up a bit then you can get a small blade under it. Jim

I'll try that this evening, Was worried that the P.O. had snapped off the ends leaving nothing to grab.

Got it. Big,very thin with no ends to work with or grab so tried the middle with fine screwdriver and it flexed outwards then followed around with screwdriver. Old seal was right up against the clip ,maybe crankcase pressure . And now to pull and replace the seal... done, tapped in deeper with motoseal to help hold it there.

I always use an Exacto knife to pry one end out, and then work in out with a very small flat bladed screwdriver. It helps to have it as quiet as possible when doing this. so that you can hear where it lands when it shoots in to oblivion...

Ha , we have all had the experience of circlips and springs head off for Oblivionland located on the other side of the room under a cabinet or heavy item. The seal was pressed up tight against the circlip so had difficultys getting any clearance. Could be from crankcase pressures forcing it outwards as this MK111 had never been fitted with a reed type valve , just original. The new one went in deeper with Motoseal to keep it there. This bike will run a crankcase breather.
