I'd like to eliminate the original air cleaner on my '74 Mk II Roadster and fit a simple K&N air filter but that involves repositioning my ignition switch. Does anyone have a suggestion that doesn't involve welding?

Thanks!

I'm sure if you're clever you can fabricate a bracket and mount it to the frame tube in the same location using some sort of clamp. Most people leave the old backing plate in place. Some will cut the bottom part off so it looks cleaner.

Make your own bracket and get it right where it's good for you. This worked for me. Hard part, shaping a hole with a flat spot for the switch body.

Here's my solution. Moved it to the other side and fashioned myself a bracket that bolts to the front of the battery tray

I'm with the others here. This example isn't pretty but you can see how simple it can be.

With the stock air cleaner gone you can use the battery tray air cleaner mounts to mount the ign. switch.

You can use the same bolts from the air cleaner too. You just have to make the thin metal mount with a drill, file, vise (is nice for the bending part) and a can of paint.

Love the stainless one tpeever!
