Been looking around to order some new decals, transfers, whatever for new tank and side panels when they're painted. The only thing I haven't seen is the tank pinstripe.
Can anyone give us a clue? Thanks

Hi Stevo

I bought my stick on decals from Classic Transfers (Robert Derrick ltd). They were excellent, being thin
and a very nice gold and silver. I've bought both colours. They have side panels logos with pin stripes
included, but as stated above the tank pin stripes need to be hand painted.

Thoroughly recommend Vintage Transfers

Many years ago I sprayed a petrol tank and side panels candy apple red. Most people who have seen it
remark how good it is and are surprised I sprayed it myself using correct colour rattle cans. However, it
took me several goes as it's difficult to get an even colour of the red lacquer over the whole area.

Recently I had a tank sprayed by Wicked coatings in Poole. It is totally fantastic - stunning. As I said to
the lady there far too good to put on a bike and drive about. Needs to be in a glass case in the living room !

I supplied Wicked coatings with decals from Vintage transfers. But they made stencils from them and they
painted the silver logos and pinstripes such that the clear lacquer surface is totally smooth. Fabulous.

Thoroughly recommend Wicked Coatings of Poole

Looks wonderful, but I would be very worried about scratching it or damaging the paint!
Work like that is not cheap...

People who have had similar paint done have said to me it was a reasonable cost.

Compared to the specialist correct colour rattle cans which I thought expensive 20 years ago
it was definitely worth the cost and lack of effort/pain to get it right.

Perhaps worth checking out how much to get your tank sprayed proffesionally in the USA ?

The tank and panels are fitted on my Commando and it is being used as per normal. It will
be a big shame if they get scratched, but that's life, and as Concours says it's rather too short
to worry too much about scratches.

I don't show my bikes and I don't go to bike shows.

They are purely for my pleasure, both spannering and riding.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I had no idea the tank was hand striped and Staytite, that paint job looks fantastic, can see why you’re chuffed, hope mine comes out like that! One place over here is quoting nearly $900 (about 800 pounds) to complete tank and side panel painting including all transfers etc. Shame I can’t use Wicked Coatings but Vintage Transfers seem to be the ones I need to order those from. No one else is showing side panel transfers with pinstripes……..unless I’m missing something!!

As above:

I made stencils for the sidepanel stripes and masked the tank with 3mm fine line tape.
The 2-colour graphics were also stencils & paint

Thanks for the info B+Bogus . Not sure I'm up to getting a result that good.
