Mk 3 Warning Lamp Indicator Bulb Questions

I have two questions regarding the P/N 06-6408 thru 06-6411 warning lamp bulbs used in the Mk 3 console. Originally, the base for the "wheat germ" bulb was sold as part of the lamp assembly. However, now Andover Norton sells the lamps minus that base. First question, does anyone know of a source for those bulb sockets [aka base]? My console and lamps are intact. However, someone in the past removed the ignition switch & the sub wiring harness. The bulb sockets were removed with the harness, which is nowhere to be found now.
My second question is, does anyone know of an LED substitute for these wheat germ lights? Hopefully, ones with the socket included, that will snap into the lamp assemblies. I searched for this, but only found info for the earlier BA7S bulbs.

Hi Charlie,

I gave up on the ageing brittle plastic dash lamps and replaced them with led assemblies that I found on ebay, I reduced the od of some 8mm washers to the size of the chrome bezel on the original dash lamps fitted them to each of the led's before I fitted them to the dash pannel.

They look good. Can you supply a part number and brand for those lights? Or an eBay vendor name?

That looks like what Andover Norton is selling, covered with white heat shrink. Why ship it almost 1/2 way [9,300 miles] around the world, when I could get it from AN? [only 4,400 miles] My lamps are fine. I'm just missing the sockets and bulbs. If I'm forced to use a kludge, it might as well be an LED kludge. It certainly won't be any more expensive.

Ultimately, that is a question for you to answer, but the fact that they are way cheaper, and the bulb part that is visible when fitted very closely resembles original (unlike some other offerings that you recently described as "great"), would likely be part of the answer.

No one would be forcing you. And what kludge? The one piece manufactured for the sole purpose of being a dash light product that I am offering?

LED cannot operate as a turn signal warning light, which is why the ones I supply (like the original and Genuine replacements) are analogue.


I drew your attention to an alternative. Feel free to look elsewhere (and probably best to do so without making rude remarks based on your errant assessment).

How strange, the LED I have fitted is operating just fine.

If the colored lens are intact it would be a simple matter to get some small 12 leds and place them in the lens with a little silicone. The turn single dash bulb could be an issue depending on what type of bulbs are in the stalk.
I did a similar repair years ago using small incandescent bulbs from radio shack.
