Mikuni throttle cable?

I was going to hook up my Mikuni tonight and it seemed like the throttle cable was WAY too long, maybe 6" or so. It sags quite a bit more than it 'should'. Is this typical, or do I have a hi-rider cable or something stupid like that?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this, or let me know if this cable is just long? Do I just need to route it more cleverly?! I can't even identify any sort of replacement part so I don't know what the appropriate length is 'supposed' to be..

Try Sudco. They are a distributer for Mikuni carbs and accessories. I got a throttle cable from them. I found them informative and easy to deal with.

How about telling us how long you cable is. Mine is called 40" BUT it measures close to 44". I have a 45" Which measures 48" and does not have the 45 degree elbow on the end.
It is thicker and stiff and is too long and will not make the turn to the carb. I have Honda 750 bars which are about 3" taller than stock Commando and the "40 inch" (really 44") just fits fine running right down the main frame tube and through the headsteady.

I could be wrong, but I think the one I've got measures around 45". I've got CommandoSpecialties' "US Bend" bars, but they seem to be more like euro bars than they do "US" bars, IMO. They're fairly low. Seems like my bars really need ~39-40" for the throttle cable, unless I just have to loop this stupid thing around something to shorten it up as-is.

I might be wrong, but with 'Euro' style bars I think you need a 35" cable. A good guide is to measure the original cable, if you have it and if you used the same bars, it will be fairly accurate. You can get several lengths from Rocky Point Cycle, both 40" & 35". Here's their 35"

I just picked up all the bits I need to make my own cable. I was gonna order from Rocky but being in Australia, it's quicker to just run down to the shop and buy the parts. If you're handy with a soldering iron, this is a good way to go. But if you want it done right the first time (I've had practice doing plenty of cables), just order it from Rocky. If ever you can't get the right length, Venhill does some high quality DIY kits using their Teflon lined outers. I've used them for clutch and front brake cables and they work great.
