You don't actually have remove the gusset it just needs a small notchThe issue with the bolt on kits is that there is not enough space between the cylinder head and gusset of the frame to fit a well flowing manifold. Some people (like Baz) remove the gusset, and fabricate a better manifold.
But the bolt on kits have to work within the constraints of being ‘bolt on’ so no, I do not believe any are better or worse than others.
But the gusset had already been removed when I bought the bike 35 years ago
