Paul that is one impressive display of the core of a Commando. I saved it. Some day I want to do that on all the tools its taken to repair my C'do's. First gear bushes should be kept on hand like spare cables and gaskets and oil pump nipples and clutch clips, speedo drive and spark plugs.
Rods installed, very nice smooth rotational action-
JB Weld in the forward sump pickup location-
New crank seal and some more JB Weld in the previous mechanic's holes drilled to tap out the original bearing race. All you need is an oven at 250 for 15 minutes and they drop right out, so why drill the cases?
Just to add to your spice of life with JBW to the rescue. It will still be there after heating cases to get new race in and out a bunch of times. I must learn how to use it in the race bore too, w/o over spill into blind area like in gearbox lay shaft. Do you know what DPO stands for... PO part stands for pass owner, fill in the first to suit your findings, departed is one.
Yes, or DamPO, like Trixie, with slotted pistons pushing through Al head gasket and caked grease rust pie for spindle 'lube'. Yet some like pre-Peel, who was good to go from the get go, Devoted past owner.
