Manx

He claims a dry weight of 96 kgs. The books say around 147 kgs dry. A friend races a modernbuild Manx, supposedly a bit lighter than the originals. It is just a tad over 300 pounds dry, or about 140 kgs.

I've not seen one that didnt have mg cases and hubs.
Even with the mg cases, the manx engine is a fairly heavy engine. The Dommie 500 twin aluminum engine was 13 lbs lighter than the magnesium Manx engine.
Lovely bike tho

When you see the thickness of the castings in a manx engine, you will know why they are a heavy engine = strength costs weight.....

did they all have the magnesium cases and drums?

There are a few aluminium bits on that bike, obviously had some bits replaced over the years. Old elektron castings (ie magnesium) are rather prone to fatigue cracking, so maybe for good reason. Sign of a good working life...

That's a beautiful bike. Looks to be mostly unrestored and has so much more character than a restored bike. Lucky dude.
