Hi, hope your all keeping safe and well :)
Can someone recommend where I can purchase a thin walled box spanner to remove the carb main jets in situ, through the float chamber drain plug orifice?

I did check the Burlen website before I wrote but couldn't see the float bung tool or jet box spanner...
I will give then a call later

You should be able to find a 1/4" drive deep socket at any hardware store.

A 5/16, 1/4 drive socket should work; the problem, no matter what you unfasten the jet with, is that the jet holder commonly unfastens rather than the jet which leaves you removing the float bowl.

If you find that you have to remove the bowl(s), remove the fuel line completely, remove the inner most bowl retaining screw first, the rest is easy. Good idea to have some new float bowl gaskets on hand; good opportunity to check/set float height. Adjust the float height by varying the float needle seat using a heat gun and a drift that doesn't bugger the needle seating surface, or spring for the Stay-Up floats (which shouldn't be bent, but can stand some "cheating").

Best.

I've always used a regular 1/4" drive socket - no special tool. As noted, unless you change jets regularly - as in adjusting for racing on different track/altitude conditions - after a while the jet bonds itself a bit tighter to the jet holder than the jet holder does to the carb body! ;)

I haven't had trouble installing a carb and changing jets over a day or two while sorting out the mixture but after a few months of sitting, unscrewing the jet will usually result in unscrewing the holder. A smear of loctite on the jet holder might eliminate that but I don't know how it reacts to the constant presence of fuel - never tried it.
