Magneto and fork questions

My N15CS magneto will rotate counterclockwise 'forever' but in clockwise, i.e. operating direction, it sticks after a few turns, as if it's screwing into something. More curious than anything until I get deeper into this project, maybe I'll forego the magneto for electronic when the time comes.

The fork chrome shrouds are really stuck to the lowers, I am thinking soak with penetrating oil and use a strap wrench so as not to mar the chrome. They just unscrew from what I understand anyway.

The normal operating direction for a Lucas K2F magneto is counterclockwise when viewed from the timing side.

Remove the points cover. Check rotating points plate for anything obviously amiss. The normal operating direction viewed from this side is CW. The magneto should rotate freely in either direction.
