Does anyone know where I might locate a couple of lighter springs to fit my otherwise excellent 932 Premiers, please?
TIA,
Paul.

Call the venders and keep kill switch trigger finger handy in case the lighter springs fail to return slides after a blip up. A single Miki carb is acceptable mod for about half the twist effort.

The T160 used lighter return springs as I recall, so you could try one of the Trident specialists. Alternatively, try matching something locally. Carb springs are just springs after all.

I ride Trials with Amal Carbs plus I ride MX (Vintage) same carbs but bigger dia.

Measure the std wire diameter of the Amal slide spring and go to store and buy some piano wire smaller Diameter.

Make up a former. Same OD as Amal Springs.

Grab new thinner piano wire and wind it around former.

Dress the ends to make them look like Amal.

Fit into Carb and Hey Presto much lighter throttle pull.

Do this at your own risk!!!!!

I also turn up Brass Slides for older Amal Concentrics and have made a jig to clean up the bore where the slides move.

Let me tell you the difference in performance is amazing, why?

A good fitting slide will cause the incoming air to do what it is supposed to do, suck the fuel up through the jets to atomise correctly.

How do I know this?

Try starting a B50 MX with a worn out carb, you may be kicking for a long time!

Amal carbs were built to a price (Cheap) design was good but quality, well the least said the better!

Only bikies I ride myself are fitted with special carb parts!

But I own maybe the only one kick B50.

might consider adding some mass in the choke hollows to help assure smooth returns in time and may damp the intake and engine vibes.

Lighter springs, for what reason?

Tried lighter springs in Amals once. Went back to stock. Yes, realized your life could be on the line. :|

Just a suggestion, you can change your cables to a lower friction material, this will make the throttle action alot easier. The trouble with lighter springs is that the motor does not slowdown when you come to a stop.
Replace the steel cable with stainless cable and the effort at the twist grip is cut in half.
