light weight pistons

I tried but you don't lose much weight. I drilled holes in the skirts like JS suggests, got rid of any excess material, but only lost about 5 grams. Biggest decrease was installing pins with tapered bore. About 10 grams lighter. Attacking the piston was probably a waste of time, and then you worry if they are going to stay in one piece! Graham

The lightweight pistons are of modern design, once you start hacking into old pistons the heat from combustion does strange things and areas start to expand more than before. The modern design takes this into account, you will save more money by buying pistons that has the experimentation required already done.
