Re: Let's not be poltical but I have a question and a theory

A Buddy was getting married a few years ago and his Fiance asked me
"how many motorcycles do you have?"
I answered "5" and she responded with
"if you cut that down to 1 you could have a Girlfriend", my response was "yeah but without a Girlfriend I could have 12 bikes".
She did not speak to me for a while after that but I did not notice, I was out riding!

I'm a Norton-lovin' Texan, by God.

(who also loves Triumphs, BSAs, Kawasakis, Hondas, Moto guzzis, Rickman Montesas, Pentons and lots of other old bikes)

Err, what is your definition of successful?????

It was successful in that it killed a square and left only a figment of everyone's imagination that occasionally appears, mumbling and misspelling, ranting on ad infinitum about Commando speed & handling. What more could you ask for out of a suicide attempt?

On a related note: If the monsters that perpetrate murder-suicides would only reverse the order of thier dastardly deeds, we'd have a better world.

Re: Let's not be poltical but I have a question and a theory

Right of center, but then Ive never voted so I suppose it doesnt matter!
Shift on right but then most of us do, is it one down and three up or one
up and three down?

Re: Let's not be poltical but I have a question and a theory

I am up for a vote- I vote we create a sticky- right there below "post your photo"- just for the ramblings of Hobot. It could start out -all yea who enter here... All Hobots post could migrate there for all humanity to see what could be or could have been.

KIlled off the old me with closed mind and limited awareness. Until I got stoned really good I thought Jimmy Hindrix sounded like chicken scratch for instance, then I really heard it and loved it and grock what he sings, Are You Experienced. It made me a lot braver in all area's of my life, girls, school, ridding and career. My dyslexia pre-existed dope days. Sorry its not intentional to be so cryptic. Dope slowed my brain static down enough I could catch the thoughts and express them a lot better. I don't need nothing now to stay pretty dang high naturally

Getting wasted out of my mind but still conscious has saved me a number of time, last biggie was when deer broke my neck/spinal cord so my heart only vibrated not beat and my breath was pralalized for many minutes a go, if I'd passed out from the pain/shock and lack of oxygen I'd of frozen to death, but being experienced in loose of body connections and staying conscious I was able to hang on by shear will power till shock wore off and body responded to brain.

No big war fought unless a global bankster cartel getting some profit or advantage.

Re: Let's not be poltical but I have a question and a theory

Hey, Hobot, i know you might think you're going 125 or 140, but your brain is DEFINITELY going about 225!

I also own a Moto Guzzi. The user group in the US is rather strange. It is very political and it seems most of the owners are a little (actually tea party right wing) to the right politically

You must be talking about Wild Guzzi. I restored a 75 850T last year and during the process was visiting some of the Guzzi sites. I did get some useful information from Wild Guzzi but these guys spend a LOT of time talking about non-Guzzi topics including politics, old Guzzis versus new Guzzis, and all sorts of other stuff totally unrelated to wrenching on their bikes. This is OK if that's what the majority of them want to do but I don't have much interest in it. I am on these forums to talk and learn about bikes and to share information and experience. I am guessing the majority of the people on the Wild Guzzi forum (at least those that do the majority of the posting) own new Guzzis that don't need wrenching or they pay a dealer to do it and so Wild Guzzi is not much about Guzzi wrenching. There are some very knowledgeable people on there though. There is a Yahoo forum specifically for loop frame Guzzis and that one seems a lot more focused on mechanical issues but those are also 35-45 year-old bikes like here.

This is still the best bike forum around and let's keep it that way!!!

I'll not say what side I shift on, but I lived in the San Francisco Bay area for some ten years. Best experience of my life. Would love to return.

Re: Let's not be poltical but I have a question and a theory

Please keep it Norton, You could start your own poltical site.

That's what I like best about this forum, lack of politics, whining and abusive crap.

I probably didn't endear myself to them when in a thread praising the good looks of of the older Ducatis and Guzzi sports models I replied something like: "Nice bikes but they don't hold a candle to my old girl looks-wise" and I uploaded this:

Tsk Tsk!! Looks like you pretty much revealed your true colors!! It's a wonder they didn't kick you off their forum entirely!!

I also think my Commando is quite a bit prettier than my Guzzi but am really starting to like riding the Guzzi............... Sure is weird having a bike that rolls from side to side at idle rather than up and down though!! Why should I have to choose, I love both of 'em!! :D

Nice seat on the Commando. If my stock seat wasn't in such good shape I'd like a seat like yours.

Re: Let's not be poltical but I have a question and a theory

"As I approached my fiftieth birthday, I had become more and more enraged and mystified by the idiot decisions made by my countrymen. And then I had come suddenly to pity them, for I understood how innocent and natural it was for them to behave so abominably, and with such abominable results: They were doing their best to live like people invented in story books. This was the reason Americans shot each other so often: It was a convenient literary device for ending short stories and books.

Why were so many Americans treated by their government as though their lives were as disposable as paper facial tissues? Because that was the way authors customarily treated bit-part players in their made-up tales.

And so on. Once I understood what was making America such a dangerous, unhappy nation of people who had nothing to do with real life, I resolved to shun storytelling. I would write about life. Every person would be exactly as important as any other. All facts would also be given equal weightiness. Nothing would be left out. Let others bring order to chaos. I would bring chaos to order, instead, which I think I have done. If all writers would do that, then perhaps citizens not in the literary trades will understand that there is no order in the world around us, that we must adapt ourselves to the requirements of chaos instead. It is hard to adapt to chaos, but it can be done. I am living proof of that: It can be done."
