I suggest riding motorcycles should always fun. I have become interested in Legend Of Classic and 46 Works . It might be enjoyable to beat the Japanese at their own game.

No use watching I prefer to ride and do my own thing in the workshop, but riding is a must on all my bikes no good looking at them in the workshop, clock up the miles and ride ride and ride.

They seem to race very well, however - it might be my imagination, but they often seem to be very late getting on the gas as they come out of corners.

Each to his own Ashley. I rode motorcycles on public roads from age 18 to 29. I know I should be dead. Racing is much safer, but not the first time you do it. What you see, is NOT what you get. My mind is changing and I think I need to race again. These days there are log books, memberships and other sorts of bullshit to contend with. But next Friday, I will be going to Winton to talk to the car idiots. When I raced years ago, it was in Allpowers races against Z900 and H2 Kawasakis. I might log-book my Seeley 850 into the 70s period.

But that is you Al and I have no problems riding on the road I have done many track days in my younger days, Lakeside raceway is not far from my place and is a very tight track, but I am not scared to ride on the road and the best thing I can jump on the bikes anytime and be up in the ranges/tight twisties within 20 minutes of leaving my front gate.
Riding around and around all day on a track is not my cuppa tea or being ruled by the track owners or clubs that use them tracks, but I ride with mates who I been riding with since the age of 15 and we all know each others riding style and its always a race to the next corners up in the ranges and there are plenty of places we ride where we can get away with it, and to your own words its been a fu cking long time since you been on your bike, I don't have that frustration as I ride when I want too, I work on my bikes when I want too, my life revolves around bike time and I still ride my powerful CRF450X in the bush with no rules at all, even at 65 years old I still ride as I have always from my youth to now, haven't slowed down but I ride smarter and wiser, I don't need to prove myself to anyone and hopefully I be still riding when I am a 105 as I am not leaving this planet till I hit that number lol.
Bike riding is not all about racing, just being on 2 wheels is my whole life and my old Norton is my life more than anything else and the wife knows that, she agreed to the contract lol.
So you can harp on all you like about the danger of riding on the road and all your track time but also all the times you haven't been on your bike, anyway got to go and visit a mate and yes on the Thruxton 1200.
