It seems like most of what I have read involves putting the bearing on the layshaft and driving it into the inner case using the layshaft as an arbor.
I was wondering if, with a roller, wouldn't it be easier/better to press the outer race into the inner case first, then press the inner race onto the layshaft.
Then assembly becomes much easier. Am I thinking right here? See any problems?
Thanks,
JD75

Hello jaydee75,

With the correct amount of heat on the gearbox case and chill on the bearing, the race is installed by hand with no "driving". It will "fall" into the hole. The layshaft gives you something to hold.
