Gents,

Last year I dismantled my forks to remove them from the triple tree. In doing so, I had to remove the Lansdown top nuts from the fork ensemble. I may or may not have mixed them up and not taken note from which stanchion they would have been removed. I do know that the compression stem is shorter than the rebound stem. How do I know which nut/stem arrangement belongs to the proper stanchion? Do I need to take the entire fork apart in order to make the distinction?

I heard J.R. Bould isn't doing very well these days. Sorry to hear.

Well I've never worked on a Lansdowne damper, but surely you could pump the damper rod up and down and feel which one has compression damping and which one has rebound damping?

You are not the first. I'm pretty sure there is a past thread where John described how to tell them apart.

CDubb,

You heard right John Bould (producer of the Lansdowne dampers) unfortunately isn't doing very well these days so I will shim in (for being his only dealer). Per Lansdowne installation guide the Rebound side is the Right stanchion and Compression side is left stanchion. Like you already mentioned the short adjusting needle belongs to the compression damper.

Good luck,

Constant Trossèl
