Lab Grown Chicken

So… is man made meat suitable for vegetarians ?
That is an interesting question. But, I am sure the hair splitters will point out that the cultivated meat comes from embryonic stem cell lines - so if they are opposed to rennet in their cheese, the likely answer is No.

Myself, I wonder if the beef tastes like corn-fed or grass-fed? I am sure that can be controlled in the production line...

Yeah, I was kinda joking but also kinda seriously interested.

Most vegetarians are motivated by animal cruelty, the killing of animals, and more recently the environmental impact of pastoral farming.

Many are also motivated by religious rules of course.

Clearly, religious rules won’t be effected, but most other moral reasons for vegetarianism would seem negated by cultivated meat, apart from those who apply the principle arguments at a cellular level.

Isn't zerohedge the same financial blog that said that Chinese agents stole coronavirus samples from Canada to create a biological weapon, which caused the outbreak of the disease around the world?

Damned Canadians.

And that one of the blogs authors told Bloomberg that he "tried to inject as much truth as I could into my posts, but there's no room for it"?

I want the pulled pork flavor.

With Vegan food becoming more mainstream you may notice it is becoming more and more industrialised as the majors such as Unilever move in to grab a slice of the pie. I instead have gone for a more meat based diet but all sourced locally and cooked with fresh ingredients, if a Vegan wants to tell me I am wrong then he will have to explain why food made in a huge industrial plant is better for me than my own cooked food. I am sure silence will ensue.

Indeed. I too find it interesting that ‘plant based’ has become a byword for ‘health food’.
Yet some of it is clearly ultra processed.
I’m not saying don’t eat it, that’s personal choice, but gimme a break with the health food BS !

Visiting in McKinney, had a meal in Plano, the restaurant served
"sea cucumber"

🤢🤢

Nope.

Some sea cucumber species are beautiful looking creatures that i have observed diving especially in protected sanctuarys and best left where they belong imo ...give me home grown meat fish and vegetables any day.

I have been scuba diving since I was 16.
I have encountered more than one of the gawd' awful things. I have seen them cut up and chopped up and nothing that crawls the bottom of the ocean will eat them. Not starfish, not urchins, not shrimp, not fish.
There is no way in hell I am ingesting one of those hideous things. I was in Dar-Salem in Tanzania and the hotel served those sliced and roasted. The one and only time I ever tried it.
Never again.
Follow the money...its all BS marketing.

Corporations such as Unilever have well known philanthropist donered marketing/media assets that deliver a convincing healthy choice speel to the general population....and of late have been exposed by many publications and have had to recall cancer risk products.

Sea dwelling slug/worm. Growing up in a coastal town in New England, early on I nicknamed lobsters "sea rats"....
I do occasionally eat the tail & claws now

As an afterthought, when all 'proper' chickens are redundant, where will eggs come from??

Mind you, if they get 'printed' as well, at least we'll know which came first :)

And..... given the title of this thread, has anyone thought to ask if he'll still be available to answer questions here?
