What have folks tried to attach the rubber grip to the bar-end ? Several glues I've tried have not set ,or let go to spin or slide about.

Hairspray, WD40 (yes it works for light gluing), also taping the handlebar to increase the diameter.

A few drops of gasoline in the grip and it will slide right on. Wait a day and it will be stuck to the bar. To remove, pry the edge up with a small screwdriver and squirt some gasoline in there and it will slide right off. (Be safe with the gasoline!)

+1 for WD40. Helps slide it on then wait and it will set. When you want to remove spray WD40 again and grip will slip off.

I never would have thought WD40 (basically Kerosene ?) or gasoline. The idea seems to be a gradual melting of the rubber to the bar. In the meantime I bought some Weldbond glue which has set after 2 days quite well ,no more slippings.

I have always just used soapy water. Dries fast with no bad smell. Thats how I put them on Schwinn Stingray as a kid.

Neglected to mention it's a loose fit , glue just let go this morning ,kickstarting forces , :| so will try duct tape today.

How about HANDLEBAR TAPE . :D

SORRY , Just Kidding . though you used to be able to buy decent stuff once , though it got grubby .

Usually just use PVC insulateing tape , about 3 or 4 turns / layers - stretched tight to get it firm & even .

Id clean the inside of the grip first . Last thing you want is the handgrip coming off when you least expect it .

Petrol usually gets them on , maybe a mallet too . USEFULL to put a coin or block on the end . So if it goes over :o
doesnt punch the end half through . Mandatory Raciong ?? Plug in bungs for tubeing are better .

Go to a golf shop, They make special double sided tape for golf clubs. You will apply tape to handle bars and then wet it with something like lighter fluid. Grip will slide right on and when fluid evaporates grip will stick. I also poke a tiny hole in end of grip and blow air into it while installing grip on bar. The air will cause grip to expand and slide on easier. Good luck.

Black friction tape and gas. Just a thin, no overlap, wrap of that old fashioned (pre-vinyl) cloth electrical tape, dampen it with gas and slide the grip on.
Similar to the paper golf tape method but cheaper and maybe stronger and the roll of tape has other uses too.

Works great to lock down those loose or spinning foot peg rubbers too.
My friend Frank Forster told me about it when he saw the safety wire on my Commando's foot peg rubbers.
