I have run the Klotz with Activ8, as mentioned in the Comnoz papers.

It has a STRONG solvent odor to it.

Anyone else notice this?

Coincidentally, the first failure of my long trusted Loctite 518 sealant.

Guess I'll have to test.

What about theActiv8?

Always google for the MSDS sheet

A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a document that contains information on the potential hazards (health, fire, reactivity and environmental) and how to work safely with the chemical product. It is an essential starting point for the development of a complete health and safety program.

They can be opaque by referring to the chemicals as odd names they use internally but looking at the risk descriptions will tell you if there are solvents present.

Hoping some talented chemistry people can add to this....

So, is there anything here that looks like it could dissolve the Loctite 518 sealant?

When you look at what is n-butanol , it's an extract from ethanol and could be used as an additive in automotive fuel/gas , so if you have time you can make your self the test on piece of metal : put some 518 and drop your mix on and wait to see if it acts on the bad way ??
I had just bought some 518 (following the forum advise ) not easy to find in France at a fair price , previously was using permatex moto seal which is fuel resistant (but cannot get it any more !), so I will follow your post with attention !
PS : I was not in the chemistry business , tho work on chemical tankers at the end of my sea life !

That is my plan, to bolt up a mock joint, soak it in this oil.

Just thought some wickid smaht poster could provide a likely solventy scenerio.
