Anyone out there had a full knee replacement?
How are you getting on with kick-starting?
I'm 5 days in and can't imagine kicking over even a Honda 50 at the moment
I'd like to know how long it took folks to kick one over again?
Cheers

Good luck Baz , while no new knee have had several fixes performed on both legs , right knee the worst , always used left leg for first start of day , once out and warm , could start with right while straddling bike , a buddy can start his with new hip with no obvious issues …. Bet you will too , in time

Hope you heal quickly baz - in the mean time have you considered an accessory like this to help with the kickstarting ?

Good luck with the rehab Baz. Be diligent with what the physiotherapist prescribes, look after it, and it"ll be like new.

I've had both knees replaced and have no problems kick starting my MK II. However the knee replacements were done 9 years before I got my Commando.

What Bert says, do what you physio says, start easy but slowly build up and don't slacken off.

The lady above is demonstrating an incorrectly installed kickstart lever. If the lever is installed to rest just slightly in front of the top rear Z plate bolt and engages the pawl at or just above the 9:00 o'clock position, less effort is required to start the engine. Leverage is your friend.

I don’t disagree but for some reason my attention wasn’t on the kickstart lever … others (male ) likely suffer from the same myopia.

Yeah but my physiotherapist is a sadist!!!! o_O
But seriously everyone says you gotta put the hard work in post opp to get the most back
The surgeon said to me this is a 50 50 operation
He put his 50% in now I have to do mine
Fair play

For Onder - a different take on Pender front brake and Cush rear end!

Same lady rides a white HD. But I don’t hold it against her I think she looks good.

Good luck with the kick starting anyhow.

It’s really good news that they take that approach these days actually.

I still have a limp that comes back whenever I’m tired, cold or had a drink. And a chronic shoulder issue. Both injuries were years ago. And I am adamant that these chronic issues are due to NOT having adequate post recovery physio at the time.

Once your body heals in the wrong way. That’s how it stays !
