Keihin carbs

I apologise if this has been done to death but I'm new to the forum and I have a question, I'm thinking of fitting twin Keihins to my 73 850. Does anyone have them fitted? They look good to me. I would be very grateful for any opnions or feedback based on experience. At the moment I've got twin Amals with chromed brass slides and I'm considerably underwhelmed. Cheers, Steve

Welcome to the forum, Steve.

I suggest you put "Keihin" or "flat slide" into the forum search if you have not already done so, as you will find plenty of previous posts on this subject.

The PWKs work very well, look great and they come already jeted for your bike, easy to fit up and Jim is very good to deal with, their are many happy owners with these Flatslide carbies on their Nortons.

Bought a set from Jim and the run great. One problem though was the the cables to the carbs were too short or maybe the throttle cable was too short. I had to shorten the cable housing to make them idle down. Other than that they work great.
I understand that these carbs are 2 stroke carbs according to the bike shop in my town.
They work great though.

The cables should be right. Maybe something was different with your twist grip? Or maybe you had a very early set with adjusters in the middle of the lower cables.

I put a set of kehins from CNW on my 74 850 about 12 months ago .
They worked great straight out of the box ,start idle and run so much better than the old amals .
Expensive , but no regrets

Hi , I posted some info about the fit up and gas mileage a while back, so like LAB says , put in some searches and you will get a heap of threads.
Can't go wrong with the flatslides, you will be impressed and 'overwhelmed'!!!
Regards Mike
