Just about got my Atlas running right but found out I am getting oil inside mag causing it to miss and cut out...Made sure oil pump is working properly and then checked the breather..When I pull breather hose off oil tank it has air and oil coming through...Checked the breather pipe on oil oil tank and I can barely blow through it...I am fairly sure this is my problem but wonder what is inside to plug this breather if anything...

Looking at Slicks scrubber post, it sounds like there should be nothing blocking it..

I'm a little rusty on these in the Atlas- some dommies have a timed rotary breather there.
See if you can draw air out of the engine there (suck)(didn't know how to put that delicately).
Its generally not good if engines can draw air into them,
increases the pressure and pumping losses, to start with.

Maggies have an oil seal around the shaft, maybe it needs looking at.

If the breather system is plugged, no oil seal will keep oil out of the magneto.

When you say you cannot blow thru the breather pipe .... which one? The one from the engine TO the oil tank, or the one FROM the tank? Either one plugged will raise the sump pressure and cause oil to seep out of every seal in the engine.

The pipe from the engine TO the oil tank, enters the oil tank via a tube that turns down and vents inside the tank. No big deal .... run a wire into the tube to ream out any debris (caution ... crap will get into the oil tank). The tower where the two tubes enter on the oil tank is an empty chamber .... there is nothing in there to block air flow. The exit tube FROM the oil tank is easy to check .... pull it off the tank and blow thru it .... I doubt it will be plugged, but if it is, it is an easy fix.

Check that the timed breather is rotating properly .... remove the 90 deg elbow and look in the port while someone hand cranks the engine ... you should see the internal disc rotate open and closed.

Once you get the breather system working properly, your magneto seal problems should be solved.

With hose from engine breather to oil tank off at the tank, air and a bit of oil comes out of hose...I put a small piece of h I see on breather pipe of tank and that is where the blockage is...will clean that pipe tomorrow and report back..Thanks.

Atlas has a timed engine breather at the front L H side of the engine below the base of the barrel – that r.h elbow with black oil pipe.
If the pipe is blocked oil mist cannot escape to oil tank tower.
Mag oil seal blowing is a common problem with any of these bikes that get to wet sump and owner tries to start engine without first draining the excess oil from the crankcase
Don’t ask me how I know :!: :(
