...Met Speirmoor at The Ear Bar in New York City last night (Bike Night) . Although he rode in on a Ducati and me, on a Benelli, we quickly established that we both also owned Norton Commandos. His, an 850 and mine, acquired the week before, a '70 750 (below).

Although I have a British dad and lived until 3 years ago in England for the previous 10, as well as when I was a kid, this Norton is my very first British bike. So much for never starting a conversation with a negative! I've always admired Nortons; the right opportunity and timing to own one just never came around. Until now, that is. I could not be happier. I am in love with the style and history of the marque and significantly, the enthusiasm and fraternity of their owners. I hope to be an active participant on this forum - not least for gathering advice I know I will need - as well as in the broader Norton community.

If there are other Norton owners/riders in New York City, please drop me a line...I would love to meet you!

G'Day from South Australia, welcome aboard.
Good to hear from another a new Norton owner.
Hope all goes well.
AC.

Aw crap, you lucked out just me on first howdy do, but NYC is a hot bed of Commandos and you don't yet know what you've been missing out on yet.
I'm sure they will ping ya when back at work stations :D
None of us would give a second look or thought to each other if not for the Nortons, so earn ya keep here and show us what ya ride please.

I met Speirmoor, we have common interests beside Commandos, and partly why he's responsible for at least one of my half way hang overs at Empire rally last July's heat wave.

Thanks AC & Hobot!

I did post a photo of the new bike and it appears at the bottom of my posting. For anyone about to ask about the missing side covers, they and the decals arrived from Phil at Fair Spares today (as did the customs stamp and plates; the bike came from Ontario, Canada last week). Tomorrow, I'm taking her to meet Kenny Cummings and get a paint match from the non-original black metalflake tank and get them sprayed, decaled and clear-coated. Next set of photos I post will be much nicer on the eyes!

Lazzamoto/Larry , welcome aboard, looks like we lost another Norton from Canada but all is good and you have a fine vehicle now.Myself just returning from 3 months touring Mexico ,just installed the belt drive and Taylor headsteady over the past 3 days of concentration.Feel good. Most Nortons were shipped to N.Y.State market and Ontario Market I believe ,others will be anxious to correct me if wrong.Zero Nortons in Mexico.Have cigars and Tequila instead.Hobot my hangover was a crippler.99 cent beers in 105 degree heat. Vermont. Enjoy, Peter and Crazy Combat.

Welcome, Larry.

Nice looking bike; the all-black wheels are not something you see every year and look good with the "package" there.

Larry glad you found your way here.
NYC will tremble when we rip through on our Nortons!

Nice bike, Larry. You can't go wrong hanging out with Kenny C. Welcome to the forum.

Ken
