Been a while, so following permission to ride again from the Surgeon I did a quick 6 miles last Sunday. My Wife assisted with the paddock stands and ensured I could get on without issue. She stayed whilst I paddled it just to be sure. Had a great short ride, didn’t do too much.
Anyway on to today, only had it on the rear paddock stand, never had a problem before. Thought I won’t bother my Wife, I’ll be okay.....
So lift rear stand, side stand catches ground anchor and raises. Go to pull back, no strength, rolls off stand and falls left. Step in and by product of operation no core strength. So let bike fall on me as we both go down. Several minutes of Anglo Saxon and I can stand up, can’t lift it up on my own. Luckily for me Wife hears the crash and is out to the garage and assists me in lifting, well she did most of the work.
Expect the worse, however I’m in luck, just clutch lever end snapped off and back of mirror has snapped out and the end of the mirror arm snapped. No other damage to the bike, can’t say I’m feeling great, one because I’m sick of the schoolboy error and two because the area of the operation is a little sore.
So on to Norton parts tomorrow for replacements......

I’m so looking forward to moving so I can have a garage to myself and not share with the garden crap.......

Bugger!

Cudda been worse tho Gary, sounds like you got off lightly there.

And yes, hurry up and move, or just throw the garden crap out on the lawn... it has no place in your motorcycle room sir !

Hi Fast Eddie,

Yes I was lucky, looking on line now for a shed for the garden crap. Bikes and tools only when we move. Part of the requirements, a proper “man cave”. Just hung on and made do for too long....

Gary

This was my solution to the ‘can we just put this in your shed’ problem.

Got it from Homebase, flat pack but easy to assemble. Surprisingly rain and wind proof...

Sorry to hear that Gary . Some physical therapy will help greatly and you can do this at home.

Welcome to the club, Gary. I had similar experience when I dropped mine. Due to confined space, had to use a hoist from rafters to pick it up. Similar damage to yours, but on right side. Also bent the handlebar. You might want to check that on yours. The alloy bar bends pretty easily. It's all good now, as I'm sure yours soon will be.

Ken

Thanks Tony, in the middle of Physio at present, set it back a bit, needed some strong painkillers after about an hour.

Hi Ken, I’ll check the bars tomorrow or when I can summon the strength to return to the scene of the crime.

Fast Eddie, with the amount of gear that’s for the garden I need something bigger, perhaps a tarpaulin but then again I might not get away with that.

Lack of strength after surgery.... boy I hear that. I got a full knee replacement 5 weeks ago and am weak as a kitten. Eating well and down 11 lbs regardless, no doubt that part is temporary. I got off the pain meds last week so have managed to drive the easier of our 2 cars. Going to be a little while yet before I can throw a leg over the bike.
Sorry about your tipover!

All sold to Accnor73, only joking, new Potting shed for the good lady and a shed for the remaining rubbish.....I mean garden furniture and general things accumulated.
Strange as the glass is intact, just snapped off the rear bracket. New parts ordered, so hopefully back on the road soon. Just need to let the aches and pains ease a bit more.

Sorry to hear, I use a front wheel dock when parking up. Secure, easy to ride onto and easy to get off.

Nice, thank you for posting, I’ll give it some thought, any changes will be made when I move.

Thank you to Norton, I left a message yesterday morning and Rob Jameson took the time to call me back. I explained the issue, what parts I needed and he said he’d sort it. Well I got home just after 1500 this afternoon and the parts were here. I can’t fault the service and the prompt delivery. Thanks again Rob

I did a similar thing but perfectly health. Got off the bike thinking the side stand was fully extended. Not so much. Stand buckled and the bike wedged me between the wall and my lawn mower. No help available. Every way I saw to recover was going to damage the tank against the mower. I was the cushion for the bike. Played the cushion roll until I figured out how to wiggle out of the mess. Had a beer and laughed about it. No damage.

Feel for you mate i dropped mine on my drive but lucky had a few mates with me damaged the left hand can and clutch lever, fitted the new cans and polished the lever.

I haven't dropped it but very nearly did on the first couple of rides due to the limited turning circle. Once you get use to that its ok but warn mates if you're brave enough to swap bikes with them
