This is how I run my fuel lines

Maybe I'm just looking for trouble, but aren't the fuel line rather close to the engine? I would worry about vapor lock in the summer. Must say though, it's a clean, straight forward job.

I would assume that when the tank is on, the fuel lines are lifted up and clear of the motor............

Yes when the tank is on and the hoses put on the taps they are well away from the motor, when I frist set up my fuel lines I had them running down like Jims set up but I thought they might get airlocks in the fuel lines as well it didn't look good, after 3 diffrent ways I ended up with what I run now and works very good and it hides most of the fuel hoses, I have been running this set up now for 6 months now, even at high speed I only have 1 tap on and the fuel flow is keeping up to both carbies, but remember mine is in a Wideline Featherbed frame so will be a little diffrent to the Commando's or maybe not.

What's ugly about it ?... 2 X Ts, clear filter, job done.
Thicker, more flexible hose used that doesn't kink.
Will look towards shortening one end of the 90 deg. bend to lift a little more.

Yes, where the rubber flange meets the actual filter, is a loose fit, not moulded in one,
and can been pulled apart, the filter can be turned while fitted.
I use K&N now.
And I need both taps on or the engine starves for fuel, the Amals didn't, but I suspect the new tap.

I assume you have 2 fuel filters. As with ashman, a clean job, I might have shorten the down tubes a little to get the lines further away from the engine.

Yep,...

2 X 90 Deg.
2 X Ts.
2 X Filters.
Could probably get away without the filters, as the Taps are filtered,
just like to be sure.
Someone said the filters are on upside down/back to front, there are no arrows,
does any one agree.
AC.

AC, take one off, blow through it gently from either end and see if there is one way more restrictive than the other, that might tell you

Hi Ian

Most filters have a flow in and flow out, but with your pics I don't know which way is right, but if your bike is not staving of fuel then they must be right???
I'm not running filters on my lines just reling on the ones in the fuel tank.

Ashley

yeah it does starve with just one tap on Ash, full tank, and doesn't matter
which tap, but that was well before the final set up, with no filters at all.
AC.

Not sure if you saw the yellow Tygon that I used AC, I posted pics way back , I used a balance tube between the fuel lines just in front of the float bowls with the original hose barb "T" 'sto make it looke more authentic, drilled out the ferrules screwed to the fuel taps, I flowed them before and after drilling , made a big differece,I can run WOT on one valve open and operate as original with a reserve on the RHS of the tank. I only use the tank filter screens and check them often. No fuel starving.
Then again you may have a bigger intake system requiring more fuel than mine.
Regards Mike

Hi Ian

My fuel lines run freely I have no problem with fuel stavation with just running one tap even at high speed, I run well over the ton on most big rides, not all the time but when cleaning out the cobb webs  Maybe turn the filters around to make sure???
