Might be worth following this build…

Tornado beat you to it...

Yes, but definitely worth watching !!

It might not slow the bike down quite as much as the Mikuni single :)
But definitely some reduced wallet weight involved!

Glen

I saw the post about the carb but wasn’t aware it made the source to the build story clear?

As you say Glen, it’ll be interesting to observe given the common understanding that it’s the manifold that’s the bottleneck, wonder if these guys have resolved that?

That description of a smart carb, sounds awfully similar to the Lectron carbs we used to run on the TZ.IE no jets,
and a semi circular needle cross section.

Kendigurator, Lectron, VVT, SU, Weber, Stromberg, Mikuni, Bendix, Keihin, Linkert, Holley, Rochester, Carter, Walbro, Tillotson, and MANY, MANY more.

Bottom line, there is no magic bullet, no super duper twice the MPG carb. Slight, fine improvements in response, but it takes the same amount if fuel to create the same amounf of power, with only SLIGHT variation.

You didn't mention the Wal Phillips Fuel Injector, famous for delivering, in most cases, half the power for twice the fuel consumption, and the occasional full tank drainage into the inlets.......

If you look on the smartcarb site there is a comparison in a linked article....and somebody might ask how it compares with the Gardner carb?
