Tacho on my 72 combat is rather jerky (erratic) instead of a smooth movement as on my 850. Is this a fixable problem. I'm in England

First thing to look at is the cable
Any kinks or damage can cause what you describe

Run it with a drill on reverse. It it is smooth then you know where to look. Most of the time it is the cable.

Saw this before coffee cleared vision and thought... Believed it read ' Jerky Tacos'. I was astounded by having eaten what I thought was every conceivable thing which could be crammed and folded into a tortilla. It twisted me because jerky is great.... How did I miss this one? Reread and came back to reality. Sorry, but I was taken aback.

Mine was always jerky, despite a new cable. A refurb last year and now is dead smooth.

Check the cable is free to rotate and lubed then check the amount -length of inner cable that fits into the tacho head if this is too long it will preload the tacho internals and damage the movement .

Be careful not to lube it too much and not the laslt few inches near the head.
