It wasn't my fault!

It wasn't my fault!

It wasn't my fault!

I was at a freeway onramp with those stupid stop lights and the bike didn't trigger the light. I waited another cycle and was about to run it when a nice lady tapped the back of my bike. Luckily it was very low speed. After she gave me her insurance info I pulled the fender out as far as I could and rode it back home. It felt ok.

It'll go off to the shop for an estimate. I want the rear wheel checked for sure. I'm not sure if the tire even got touched. It's been bloody hot and this has been the first day that I could ride. That was a short ride.

What else should I get checked?

My local light is triggered by a beamthingy but will not register my bike , so must drive all around in a circle to get home. Irritating seeing as we pay road taxes ? How about a beam on the backend that triggers the horn to blow when a vehicle approaches too close ? Or an explosive charge that throws out a can of nails ,or a loudspeaker rearwards with a curse taped message ? Day-glo tape ? Explosive charge of party favours?

i'm picturing an old boxing glove on a scissor arm. always worked for wile e coyote...

I had taken that ramp before but it had been a while. I'm not sure if I had the problem then. I should have taken another route. Oh well.

That’s too bad Matt
Was she talking on her Cell phone? Check your muffler Iso rubbers and rear wheel adjusters on the swing arm.
When you get your parts include a Bulbs that last forever LED lamp as this is a much brighter setup and draws less power from the alternator. You have to replace that lamp assembly and mudguard anyway.

Tom

I don't mean to be opportunistic (but I guess I am), but I have been looking for a rear fender on which I can do some cutting without guilt.

Glad the damage wasn't worse!

Fender will get replaced and put into inventory. Never know when you'll need another one.

ugh, Racking up the random road hits of flying fickle finger of fate. Glad its so minor, again. She likely thought you were going to go for it and likely just should of. Hind sight is 20/20 [a pun?] but does predict what to expect any time any place when one is seated in a saddle. So far no riders I know of on this forum has been lost but on others there's handful of missing handles that whisper in my ear.

Whether or not she assumed I was going to go, I didn't. I have to be more vigilant on red lights that don't change. Usually the Norton can trigger them if I can see the loop in the road and get the engine over it. In this particular spot you couldn't see the loop.

What do you guys do when lights won't change?

Do you remember the guy we lost when he collided with a fork lift? That was a while ago. Luckily there haven't been any others I know about.

No doubt, man. Glad you're alright!!!

You probably should check your rear frame loop to make certain that it was not bent downward due to the collision. craig

around where i live (burbs outside philadelphia) any time there is roadwork in any intersections they're installing cameras to switch to object recognition because the loops suck so bad. The camera's dont have the failure rate of the loops and they can work more dynamically by monitoring a few lanes at a time

BUGGER .

Last night saw a wee japer up the back of a GTR boy racer type turbo wotsit . All Nice Types . Sitting there two hours .
GTR stove in and creased above the rear arches , little nipper spilled its coolant and snub nosed . Mayve been texting .

Probably just a hard day at the office ( woman ) and tired , distrated and not PAYING ATTENTION . 40 grand down the drain alltogether . Fudge .

ANYWAY , was just in jest , but MAGENTA ( a Chrysler 70s muscle car colour ) is really purpleish , not pinko commie pansey unless on a light base colour .

It wasn't my fault!

Though a coustom blend would be preferable .

It wasn't my fault!

or metallic / metalflake coustom lacquer and twenty coats of clearcoat , to give it a bit of depth .

Reckon you need to sting them for a FASTBACK rear Guard , as its the Genuwine P.R. Job, though not sure if the 72s were actually the std stainless type .

Get the old girl up on a beer crate , Get the spirit level out . Shim under to dead square over the rear shock mounts ( seat )
little blocks cut from the same stick for spacers , if needed .
We chuck a pile of straight sticks across , & the level .Rear wheel out . sticks at axle line , subframe , And eyeball .

Actually , if you looked like Atilla the huns brother , she probably wouldve snapped out of it 100 yards back , and avoided you .
A flashng lamp atop helmet and blinking led dayglow vest is the other alterative . Barring R.A.T.O.

It wasn't my fault!
