NEVER HAVING THE ISOLASTIC UNITS APART (WORKING ON THE FRONT ONE NOW) ....WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE 4 SNAP RINGS ON THE INSIDE CENTER METAL PIECE? THE ORKSHOP MANUAL SAYS TO SPACE THE 2 INSIDE BUFFERS 1/2" APART ON THE MIDDLE OF INSIDE METAL PIECE (WITH THE SNAP RINGS ON IT) AS THE BUFFERS HAVE A LARGER INSIDE DIAMETER THAN THE METAL PIECE....WHAT KEEPS THEM 1/2" APART? ARE THE BUFFERS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A LARGER INSIDE DIAMETER OR ARE MINE WORN? BOTH BUFFERS SEEM TO BE OF EQUAL SIZE ON THE ID AND OD.

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE!

The snap rings or circlips as we call them! hold the buffers in place on the short tubes. These are then held between the moulded in steel tubes on the main ISO rubbers. As long as you install the main rubbers evenly in from the main tube ends you'll find all the inner metal tubes are in or almost in contact. Take a look at the manual? or the Andover Norton site exploded views.......http://www.nortonmotors.de/ANIL/Norton% ... &Plate=010
It shows the buidup but is not easy to see the snaprings. Hope it helps.
