I would be most grateful if anyone here would be kind enough to let me know if there are any drawings of the isolastic cradle available, and where I might find such a thing? Also, I've heard it rumoured that there are at least two types - again, it'd be most helpful to know more!

Andover Norton should have drawings: http://www.andover-norton.co.uk/Index.htm

I think there were four:

'68-'70 = 06-0424 (frame mounted main stand).

'71-early '72 = 06-1411 (+holes for cradle mounted main stand).

Late '72 - '74, = 06-4060 (+holes for oil filter mounting bracket).

'75 = 06-5140 (Mk3).

Many thanks for the helpful info! As regards Andover Norton, I have no doubt that they have the drawings, but I'm told they don't let anyone else have them. I don't know if that's entirely correct, but it was certainly the case when I asked to see a different drawing a couple of weeks ago!

Thinking about it, I guess I should say what it is I'm trying to do - essentially, I want to make my own cradle for a hot rod I'm building. Since this features various modifications, I want to create a two-dimensional .dxf file representation of each of the two sides of the cradle so that I can get some made using a CNC plasma cutter. I'd rather use CNC laser, but I live in the middle of nowhere and there's a plasma two minutes up the road!

I suggest you sit tight, as I think one or two of our forum members might have drawings.

I do hope so! I don't really care what model the drawings are for, as it's the profiles I'm after, and as far as I can see - ignoring the centre stand (which I won't be using), they're all much the same.

If it's just the side plates then make templates from hardboard / ply that you can check and post them or a drawn around outline on paper to a sheet metal firm - most have laser cutters these days, turnaround should be a few days. Laser cutting of sheet is now that common many firms don't bother advertising they can do it as it the norm so there maybe one nearer than you think.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll see how I get on with the bloke up the road, and if that doesn't work out I'll see who has a laser!

I have CAD drawings from my monoshock & big bearing designs; both include tranny cradles.

Thank you - that is most kind - email incoming!

I am hoping your generosity limit has not been reached. One of the most important things I need to get done before getting the Norton to the race track this coming race season is to sort some discrepancies with the engine cradle. The work you have already done in plotting the engine cradle would be MOST helpful. Can I contact you with the hope of you sharing the file ? Thanks either way.
