Is your bike at the factory?

I know this sounds like blaspemy to the admirers of the Great SG & SS, but naturally did not only both know that parts were robbed from motorcycles that were in for service, they both instigated it.

And this is not a recent practise- it has been going on for years. I know of one customer whose cylinder head "disappeared" in service years ago to finish a "new" motorcycle.

Sounds familiar- when we were approached to buy a Norton shop years ago that supposedly built (and, according to a recent article in Classic Bike, supposedly still builds) "new Commandos", one member of the owner's family whined about the increasing difficulty to find "donor bikes"..... That family later became VERY friendly with SG, and he then tried to broker their shop to me on their behalf yet again.:)

Absolutely terrible state of affairs something needs to be done and hopefully things will catch up with SG. Feel sorry for the poor customer to have to retrieve the bike in that shameful condition.

Video worked for this non facebooker, not that it was pleasant viewing.
If the law don't catch up with them there may be others that are tempted to.

That video is a shocker. That’s not £40k plus worth of ‘stuff’ is it ?!

On the bright side, someone will probably have the worlds only Streetfighter’d 1200 Norton !!

Don't panic, Looks like 961 parts will be readily available. See link and scroll down. Really sad that his dodgy mate has gone out of business. As for the imaginary licence, seems like his mate Garner could not register it at the UKIPO for the public to see like the licences held by ANIL.

On some irony is lost, others aren't aware of certain people's reputation in Norton circles.

Astonishing, that will be 9 cases of theft, VAT fraud selling a new bike using used parts on which VAT has been paid twice or more. Also adds up to trading while knowingly insolvent.
Looks like the administrators have a mountain of work to do, though that direction could change tomorrow in court.
I thought the bike in for a service that was being tracked near London was bad enough, though it makes you wonder if they transferred the tracker unknowingly.

As if all that has gone on and come to light isn't bad enough then this V4 stripping is scandalous. I was saddened that up 'till now the Norton company was likely to be bust beyond repair and that corporate liabilities would be followed up.... but to break customer bikes up for a quick quid? I truly truly hope that if this is proven then we see civil criminal charges bought and jail term imposed.

Norvil's sad day statement.

Additional News

We were extremely saddened to learn that Stuart Garner's company, Norton Motorcycles of Donington, went into administration this week. We were in support of the expansion of the Norton brand with the manufacture of a modern day Norton to complement our own retro Norton's that we build at our site (the pre 1978 Norton models).

We have been assured that we are the only company to have a perpetual royalty free licence to use the Norton trademark, (that pre-dates the current ownership of the Norton mark in fact). We did not have an input into the modern Norton enterprise, but as our licence to use the Norton trademark lasts forever, we will offer assistance in the retro Norton market to any future owner who wishes to enforce their trademark by legally challenging the companies that produce pirate Norton parts in the retro sector.

We hope that the manufacture of the modern Norton can remain a British concern, (like the retro Norton is at our Staffordshire based business). Furthermore, if it can continue to be manufactured in the heart of England - the home of the British motorcycle, then that would be even better.

So porky pies are baked in Staffordshire as well as Donington.

Am I missing something? I don’t recall any recent new 750/850 Commandos being offered for sale

I've heard this place called a Ponzi scheme from a mechanic of a world famous pop star who bought one since 2015. Man....he nailed it. Produce a cool nostalgic bike, don't service them, take the money and build a dream bike. I don't think that was the original intentions in 2009, but that is what it became. Know when to hold em, know when to fold em. Desperate times call for desperate measures to some.

What of the employees who were the ones that physically removed the parts and installed them on "new" bikes? What are they guilty of? Conspiracy?
