Is your bike at the factory?

Can you ride it Clive or is it not serviceable

Had a few chats today and this evening with an administrator on site who seems a really decent sort. Told me not to worry about getting the bike back - he has had a busy day today as you can imagine, and will try to work out tomorrow what state the bike is in. Last contact with Marie, which must have been minutes before the administrators marched in and told everyone to leave their desks and pick up their personal belongings, it was running so sounds hopeful.

Compared to many who I have every sympathy for my situation is pretty easy, although we all took a risk when we paid up front for our bikes to be built...
Plan to keep the bike forever so need to hoover up a few spares. Biggest problem will be a floppy tank so it would be nice to obtain an alloy tank....

Can't say I'm too worried - I might need to limit my mileage a bit for longevity though. Wonder if we can get access to the ECU?

Good news for you ! nice to hear , hope there are more similar stories, in the not too distant future ....

I'm very aware that my problems are miniscule compared to those with their hard earned cash locked in at the factory.

That email they provided for BDO keeps bouncing. Anyone have that email number for Lee at BDO, saw it listed somewhere but now cannot trace

Hi

The email for Lee is lee.causer@bdo.co.uk as posted earlier , although I have had a reply from Marie at the factory who has advised that any bikes in for service are ok and have been secured by the administrators. Marie is saying to also contact NMcomms@bdo.co.uk , so I have sent them a copy too . I have not yet had a reply from the administrators though.

emailed several times and emails have bounced. But I am not too worried, will sue their ass if they nick my norton

I think he means he’ll sue the administrators, not Norton...

But let’s hope it doesn’t come to that !

would be useful to find out plans for service spares held at the factory by the administrators!
Wonder of AN would take them on.. would be a very useful service to provide for owners Joe.

I'm not sure that Norton gave the service dept. any spare cash to keep a stock of spares. I called in end of last year for a rear tyre and was told they had no stock as the tyres in stock had all been allocated to the Street build and they didn't know when they would get fresh stock... I was gobsmacked. Anyways, I can get them fitted cheaper here but I wanted to run to the factory to see about getting my silencer replaced under warranty, so a tyre swap at the same time seemed appropriate.

The administrators were appointed by and work for Metro bank. Norton is insolvent with unknown liabilities, so no doubt in an effort to keep the spinning plates from crashing SG will have left a web of deceit. So follow Time Warps advice and get hold of your bike.

Note in the past parking companies have used the confusion over the registered keeper on the V5 not needing to be the actual owner to apply for change of keeper into their name on the V5 and then to declare ownership.

The administrators will be tracking down company assets for sale, SG has no doubt set some bikes aside for sale on the side so the administrators will take the Metro banks side and be reluctant to release any potential assets.

Property in the control of administrators can difficult to recover unless you have all the relevant paperwork with I’s dotted and t’s crossed . Even then you may find fee’s to pay and storage charges racking up if you bikes warranty claim has been rejected, the administrators are not your friends no matter how nice they are over the phone or in emails, they are getting paid to do a job and the better they do it for their employer the more money they receive. They are vultures picking over the bones and have done it many times before and have no conscience.

Contacted BDO several times and left messages, someone supposed to be getting back to me. I am going to start losing my rag soon if they do not advise me when I can collect my bike

Best get advice from a solicitor, they are effectively holding your property hostage.

Lets hope that the service dept. at Donington kept good records. I'm guessing that the admins won't know if a bike is in for a service or if it's part of stock. They won't necessarily see a V5C as proof of ownership, it's possible (in their eyes) that Norton has just bought the bike on the promise that you will turn up with the V5 to complete the sale.

They called me, missed the call but will speak tomorrow and bike is safe and can collect at an agreed time so all should be good. Insured today along with the indian for £225 with Bennetts. Thats 1200 miles this coming year on the 961 and 3200 on the Indian with breakdown cover. May use the 961 a little less until we know if parts are going to be readily available
