Is there a Commando factory paint , sticker color list

Is there a factory paint color,stripe color and shape, sticker color list for the Commandos ? Did some searches and have not found any.

I don't think there was an 850 with blue/gold, only a 750. I've looked through all the advertising brochures I've collected, and all the blue 850s shown have silver scripts. The only one with gold script is for a 750 roadster in the 1972 "Frontrunners" brochure. There was also a Fastback color scheme with blue tank and black script outlined in gold.

The blue/gold theme was carried on with the MkV 750's (1973 MY), but I have never seen a blue/gold 850. Since I have a blue/gold MkV 750 I have been sensitive to this since '73.

Is there a small chance that they did make some blue and gold 850's like this? As I have an 850 that might be original and it looks like this.
( the photo was taken from a 1972 750 brochure , I believe )

Probably not - unless you invent one :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
It is of course your bike, so you can paint it how you want it....

The colors and decals are all covered fairly well in the brochures and parts lists,
and (some form of) blue with silver decals and pinstripes for 850's seems to be about it.

This has been discussed here previously, repeatedly, search on fireflake blue etc...

Mind you, we are yet to see/find the color swatch chart for the 850 models, like as for the 1970 and 71 models shown above.

It's possible that Norton made at least one 850 Commando with gold striping and lettering. On the cover of a 1973 850 Commando sales brochure there is a blue 850 Commando which appears to have gold striping and lettering. Also the Norton script and lettering have a black edging. Then again inside the sales brochure it shows a blue Mark IA Roadster with the traditional silver striping and lettering.

I don't think so. That picture on the cover shows an ambiguous color on the script. On the tank, it is more clearly silver, but on the side covers it has a golden tint. If you compare it to the bright gold script on other pictures, it is pretty clear that the gold tint is a product of the lighting for the photo. As you said, this picture of the same bike in the inside of the brochure clearly shows the script to be silver.

the bike I have after close examination has been repainted over the original blue ,with a little different blue then gold stickers installed.
