Does anyone know where I can get a set of used/reproduction side covers for a interstate ? I'm looking for
Metal covers not glass... anyone know of a vendor selling these,or are any of you guys interested
In selling or trading for.....who knows....I have a decent set of glass covers that I've been advised to not put a Ton of money into refinishing these....I'm going to take the advise
So any leads ?
Thanks

There steel and have toolbox.

I purchased a set of these and also an Interstate petrol tank from this vendor. Very happy with the items and with the customer service from this seller. Seem to be well made and all the threads on the tank match taps, studs and cotton reel rubber mounts. Side covers are in undercoat and tank is bare metal with the underside undercoated and wd40 or some thing similar covering the bare metal. I have not painted these yet.

Please post pics. I'm sure many of us are looking for a decent quality interstate tank and side covers. Thanks.

Check out the Ebay site. Click on other items and type in Norton Commando Interstate tank. USD200 with free international shipping. They are still showing 3 tanks available and the photo in the listing is what the tank I received looks like. My camera skills are not adequate to show any quality shots. David

Changaroo have you test fit that tank and put a gas cap on it yet? If so how did it fit up front and did the cap work proper? A friend bought one of those 200.00 tanks from that same seller and the right front tank mounting ear would hit the tank when tightened up. The studs seemed a little to far back and is a real tight fit and hard not to hit the top fork yoke when putting it on. Then when on has to be slid all the way back to just have about an 1/8" clearance from the top fork yoke. But the biggest problem was the huge holes for the gas cap mounting roll pin. The cap mounts but just flops all around and don't stop opening until it lays all the way back and hits the tank! Oh and we tried two gas caps an original and a new Ceandess both worked the same way.

Anyone expecting a quality Interstate tank from India for $200 w/free shipping is likely to be disappointed.

I am interested in hearing more about the fit and finish of the side covers, and if everything lines up properly when fitted.

I have not tried to fit the tank to the frame yet. My bike is a 1971 model and I am having a new side stand lug welded on and the frame strengthening brackets for the rear loop. I purchased these from Old Brits. I will have to check how the welder is going with my frame. He has had it since before Christmas.
I will check the tank mounting on the frame when I get it back and report the results.

Nortarly, I just test fitted my petrol cap and the holes are too large on my tank too. The cap does lay back but not on the tank (just). Once closed it seems OK though. I expect to do some adjustments with these parts but they are much better than the parts I have. I have not been able to obtain genuine Interstate parts, they seem to be rarer than gold plated hen's teeth. My bike was a basket case and the Roadster tank and side covers it had (fibreglass) would have been much more work than these Indian ones, in order to be able to use them. I wanted the Interstate parts because when I got my 1971 Norton Roadster new in 1972, as a lad, I remember what a pain it was organising a trip around where I could get petrol, making sure I had enough to make it to the next Petrol Station. David

Just to clear up any confusion in what I wrote. I sold the bike I bought new in 1975. The current bike I got as a basket case in 2015.
