Has anyone any experience of riding with Norton interplod fairing?
I assume they are they same as an Avon dolphin fairing?
I'm getting to the stage where I think I'm going to have to retreat behind a fairing to be able to do any distance
I'd like a fairing that would suit the early 70s style
What are people using?
I can't believe I'm asking this ,years ago I wouldn't have entertained the Idea of a fairing!!
But all is not lost I plan to build another commando from parts, this one will be tuned and naked for local riding
Cheers

Farings have their places: Cold, Wind, rain, and anytime you begin to age to the point you tire of having the crap beat out of you on a bike. Downside is the ones which are good for battling the elements may not give the desired handling characteristics you love so dearly.

If its your upper body and arms that take the beating then a bikini fairing or screen above the headlight will reduce the wind but not increase the noise.

Doesn't answer your question I know (that would be a straight: 'No!') but weren't the Royal Enfield (Airflow) fairings the creme de la creme back in the day? Personal taste matters of course, and fitting adaptations if possible....

I have a Memphis Shades universal windscreen and it's unbearably loud. I need to try a wind deflector.

I was going to put a fairing on mine and asked the same question, was told it made the bike's front end feel terribly heavy and ruined the handling. I must say though that I had a Rickman full fairing on an MZ Skorpion and the weather protection was superb, and in a weird way I always liked the look of Interplods.
I believe the Interplod fairing was an Avon Northway, getting the original fixing brackets will be difficult, but you could make some.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t talking about needing ear plugs due to wind noise...

More to protect against the merciless ribbing you’ll get from your mates...!
I thought you meant noise from the engine, when I was 17 I passed my test and bought a 350 yam yr5 ,it was fitted with an Avon fairing
And top box, but I didn't need no stinking fairing and it was off as soon as I could get it off along with the top box
But it was like sitting inside a loudspeaker with that stroker engine rattling away from what I remember

That's a good point about the handling

Yep I have a puig flyscreen fitted at the moment it does work quite well
I had to play around with the angle of it to work and not make matters worse
I was wondering if it could be taken one step further

This is what sparked the question
But if they are noisey and make the bike handle bad "I'm out"

It's hard to get screens dead right , sometimes a screen needs to more or less upright

So has anyone ridden a commando fitted with an interplod fairing?
Cheers

Apparently they used to suck up litter and dust from the road and cover the rider in it.

My first Commando, a Mk111 was fitted with an Interplod fairing back in the 80's. At the time it was a revelation from my 650SS, both by being so smooth and so pleasant to use.
My girlfriend at the time thought it was wonderful, as it was the middle of winter in NZ and the comfort afforded was brilliant.
The weather protection was fantastic and yes, the noise reverberating around all that fibreglass was significant, but the comfort increase was well worth it. I do recall scraping the edges on the road, the first time I went through some fun twisties, and realised that it had cornering limitations, but then again I was comparing it to my Featherbed.
It was smashed up and written off along with the bike in a nasty accident in 1987, (sorry mate I didn't see you!)
If someone offered me one again, I would be sorely tempted to put it on my current Mk111.
