Inspection cover stud

Hello all,
I over tightend the left bottom front inspection cover bolt and I have broken the stud off in the middle of the stud. Any ideas on how to remove the broken stud from the head and replace it? Any help would be apprciated.

That's the rocker inspection cover, by the way.

Is there anything of it still sticking out ?
Halfway down can mean a few things.

If there is still a bit there, getting a pair of vice grips (molewrench ?) can sometimes easily just take them out.
If it is tougher, blocking the rocker cover hole with rags, and filing a flat either side of the bit sticking out and getting either a spanner (wrench) or vicegrips that is a good fit will sometimes undo them.
If it is still tougher, a good operator can mig a handle/lever onto it - take the tank off and remove it from the vicinity, undo electric stuff of course.

If its broken off below ground level, I'll leave it for others to suggest something.
Careful drilling and an ezyout may be involved.

If you can cut flats on the stud to get a pair of vice grips on heat up the head around stud with a propane or MAP gas torch and back it out.

If its to short but sticking out of the head you can weld a bolt onto it heat the head with torch and back it out.

If its lower than that you will have to drill and easy out or take it to the machine shop.

There was a bit left. I filed the sides of the stud flat and used a wrench (spanner) to back it out. Great advise, now I'll sleep tonight.

Glad you got it out. If you break off something deep, drill a hole through a dowel, and plug that into the hole for a drill guide. Your bit won't wander all over the place trying to get started. Works a treat!

Odd that the stud broke. That is a low torque application. But better to break the stud than to pull the threads out of the head.
