Inner primary cover

Bought this at a swapmeet for very little cash. Obviously it has damage from a drive chain breaking but no other bad spots. Is the broken piece for keeping chain lube splash contained or might it add a bit of stiffness? Might possibly fab a piece of sheet steel and pop rivet in place? Or is it scrap metal? The stator mount towers actually look better than the one I'm using now.

Mine had a sheet metal bandage screwed in place when I bought it, and it always bothered me, because every time I looked down I could see it. My son welded a strip of sheet aluminum in place, and it’s completely out of my consciousness now. I was worried about the case warping, but that didn’t happen.
 
I have no way to weld aluminum now. Perhaps a combination of mechanical fastener and chemical bonding agent.....(JB Weld :oops: ) what have I got to loose?

There are many instant grab polymer mastics available which should do the job. For example in the U.K. CT1 and OB1
 
Does it really matter about fixing that broken part, nearly every inner case I have seen had that bit broken from chain slap or what ever and a lot of Commandos run fine with the broken piece and the only thing I see its use is to stop chain lube fling or what ever its purpose is for, its hidden sight unseen and fixing it is it going to happen again and you only notice it broken when you have the inner case off the bike, I be more concern about a chain rubbing on the inner case if the centre shims were wrong as really not much gap there.
Just my 2c worth.

Most likely does not matter if it's there or not as far as performance but since I'm retired I need things to keep me occupied. Was pretty easy to take a piece of L shaped angle aluminum, slot one web to make the bend and fit and glue it. It was that or start drinking early that day.

Inner primary chaincase sealing disc has "cup" part I cannot locate on parts diagrams.
