Why won't we take care of what we already have?

The standing water causes crazy traffic jams when it rains. Or when snow melts. Or when snow melts then re-freezes.
But we can't clean the drains.

In the case of that storm drain it would require a complete road closure for 12 hours and at least 5 shovel leaners to supervise the one guy actually doing the 5 minutes work to open it.

Don't forget the crew-cab one ton, the clam-shell digger truck, the dump truck, the Scorpion crash barrier truck, the State law mandated State Police detail....

Because maintenance is not a thing anymore for anything. Repair isn't either. Because it is cheaper to toss and make a new one. Because you don't need so many workers who will require the full medical, unemployment and union work rules and pay. Sure the workers will vote
but the contracts for the trucks will get you campaign contributions and
with money you can buy votes.
You could have bought a Honda instead of a Norton. For many of the same reasons.

Now that I handed off my 2004 Silverado 1500 with the V-6, I'm not so sure it will EVER get to 250,000 miles.

I had 236,500 when I gave it to her, and she's already trashed the side of the bed against a Whataburger driveway bollard...

...it was so nice and clean...

Very good Point.
Maintenance is not a thing anymore, we live in a Disposable Society.
