Indian Fastback Tanks

All of the Indian Fastback Tanks that I see for sale are listed as post 70 tanks. Will any of these fit a 69 Fastback? I expect to do some filler work on a tank, but are any better than the others?

No idea what his Fastback tanks are like but he gets good reviews for his BSA hornet and spitfire tanks, pummy.8081 is his ebay name, he does a range of fastback tanks, plain sided and also with badge recesses.

I think that this is the guy from whom I bought my post 69 Fastback tank. Generally the tank fitted well, weighs a ton. I sealed the tank as I could not be sure that the welds were fuel proof, this involved cleaning the inside, derusting it and using an ethanol proof sealer from Tank care products in the UK. This all takes time, painter said that he had to do quite a bit of work to get the exterior ready for paint, but looks very good now.

Thanks for posting the pics - great job on the bike!

How would you say the shape compares to your original?
I was looking at the alloy ones for sale via RGM (Bartel?), and the shape seems a bit off?

Here is a comparison

I think that the alloy tanks from RGM are a bit squarer.......but much less work to prepare

I recently bought an Indian Fastback tank with the badge recesses. It seems very well made, however, I've not done anything with it yet so there could be various flaws hidden away. As was said above - it is very heavy, so they clearly haven't skimped on steel thickness!

Knowing the Indian governmental philosophy of 'make everything in-country', I'd imagine they're using their own.

That's due to the crash in steel prices thanks to the Chinese economy taking a nosedive.
