any suggestions on a rear cover for the wires on a 'universal' (read emgo) ignition switch? will stock rear cover work?
thanks

You might get a better response if you ask general questions on the main forum. This one was intended to document restoration projects.

Alan ,at first I saw no reason for you to move this thread , I guess though since you were not documenting your restoration in detail the move request was fair ball and you will get more hits .... all I can add is that my Commando has run fine with no ignition condom ... at one point I did check with Brit Cycle and no joy , so left it bare , with a dab of dialectic grease no issues ever ... note that Norton lives in insulated and heated bike shed and is never out in the rain unless by chance ....been like that so long I forget my ignition switch is exposed ...sorry

Alan didn't move it, I did.
Had it been part of an ongoing rebuild thread then it could have stayed where it was, however, individual technical questions should really be posted in the main Classic section.

rear of switch is a bit over 1 1/2" diameter where wires connect ..I used plenty of shrink tubing on the connections just want to cosmetically hide them..

Here's an original Norton Master Switch:
ignition switch rear cover

The widest diameter at the rear is 1.584" and the main part of the body is 1.434. If your switch is similar the standard Notron 2-piece cover will work or you can use just the rear half (that's what I do). You can use the one L.A.B said or this one (pre-MKIII) https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/16404

thanks for the ideas gentlemen I gave the rear of the thing a good coat of gloss black and it doesn't look nearly as 'raw'
